Ketchum Perspectives: Cannes 2014

Creativity is at the core of Ketchum’s break through brand promise and our DNA as an agency. As communications professionals, it’s our job to find creative ways to cement our clients’ positions in the marketplace, and the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity is a great place to find inspiration and share our own experience. This year’s festival was especially exciting for Ketchum – we took home three Cannes Lions Awards, sponsored the Young Marketers and Young PR Lion competitions, and participated in a number of panels and events – but more importantly, we brought home great learnings, the best of which can be found in this issue of Perspectives.

This year, ICCO, in partnership with the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, launched the Young Lions PR Competition to give young PR professionals the chance to showcase their talent on a global stage. Ketchum’s own delegates give us an insider’s look at the competition.

Ketchum sponsored the Young Lions Marketers Competition for the fourth year in a row. In this section, Jerry Olszewski, Senior Partner and Chief Client Officer, shares his takeaways from the competition. To experience the competition for yourself, you can watch our mini-documentary.

Cannes provides a wealth of information, and it can be hard to sift through it all to find the gems. Here, our team breaks down some of the key takeaways in infographic form and shares video interviews with some of the festival’s most influential attendees.

Ketchum’s delegates were involved in many aspects of this year’s festival. Here, Senta Slingerland, Director of Brand Strategy for the Cannes Lions Festival, shares her thoughts on women in the marketing industry, and two Ketchum colleagues share their experiences from the festival.

In this section, four Ketchum colleagues break down some of the most important sessions at Cannes – and share learnings that all of us can apply to our daily work.

Ketchum has a strong track record of wins at the Cannes Lions Awards; in fact, we were the first PR agency to win one. Here, we share four case studies from some of our strongest campaigns from this year’s competition, as well as some thoughts as to what it takes to win a Lion.
